How great organisations use workplace surveys to build engagement and performance – creating the virtuous circle.
When the data gathering stage is complete we use our employee engagement framework to analyse the data. The key here is the correlation between levels of engagement achieved and the various factors that influence engagement in the workplace. This analysis reveals the factors that are having the greatest influence in the organisation. This analysis can be done for the organisation as a whole as well as departments and different demographic groups.
When it comes to presentation, it is vital to get the workplace survey results into a format that makes it easy to see what is working well for you, where you ought to make changes and importantly what to measure to track progress and impact.
With reports designed with these aims, it becomes easier to communicate the results throughout the organization and illustrate where there are gains to be made that will have a positive impact on engagement and ultimately performance.
Workplace surveys to build engagement
All organisations have three types of employees: the engaged, the disengaged and where most people sit - somewhere between the actively engaged, and the disengaged. Some of the disengaged may be having strongly adverse effects on the organization. In building engagement the goal is to grow the number of engaged employees and reduce the number of disengaged.
The good news is that when you start to make progress the task can become easier. By increasing the number of engaged employees and reducing the disengaged, the culture and climate within the organisation will begin to change in a positive way, thereby creating a virtuous circle. By growing the group of engaged employees, performance as measured by factors such as customer service, sales and profitability are much more likely to improve.
