As a general rule, shorter questionnaires have higher response rates so try to keep your questionnaire as short as possible. We recommend that you aim for a questionnaire with a total of 40-70 questions to achieve a balance between capturing the information you need and a healthy response rate. However, if you follow the other tips offered here, you could include more questions and still achieve a good response rate.
It is worth asking several employees to complete the questionnaire beforehand to see how long it takes them. You can then inform employees in your communication about the survey how long it will take. If your employee survey takes more than 15 minutes, you could set aside a designated time during the workday for employees to complete the survey.
