Some employees may choose not to complete an employee survey for fear that their responses will be seen by their manager or someone else in the organisation. Employing a third party to collect and analyse the data and generate the reports can address this concern. Employees tend to feel more comfortable completing a staff survey, whether on paper or online, when they know that the survey is being handled by an independent organisation. They also tend to respond more openly and candidly so this can also improve the quality of the responses.

It is important to reassure employees that their individual responses will remain anonymous, will only be seen by the third party and not viewed by anyone within the organisation. As a general rule, to protect the identity of respondents, we will not analyse or report on groups with fewer than 8 respondents. This should be communicated to employees to reassure them about anonymity.
